The Urban Institute has released “Uninsured Children: Who Are They and Where Do They Live?” The report examines data from the 2008 American Community Survey to provide detailed state estimates that include substantial cross-state variation in uninsured rates and substantial variation in uninsured rates across demographic groups and sub-state areas within most states as well. An estimated 7.3 million children lack health insurance, despite being eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
