MCA Tech Park, Inc. is accepting proposals for Construction Management services for a planned Biomedical Research and Technology Building. Deadline to submit proposals is 2 p.m. (MT) April 30. Other preceding deadlines are listed in the RFP document, available at the MCA Foundation website.

The building will be the first of a series of structures destined for construction on the MCA campus’ 13-acre research quadrant, located within the 440-acre MCA campus, near Raynolds Street and Gateway East. The 80,000-square-foot facility will have four floors and be built on a parcel of approximately four acres within the 13-acre quadrant. A previous Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural services was issued Feb. 28, 2013, and that selection process is on-going.

The Biomedical Research and Technology Building is just one part of a larger plan being spearheaded by the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Foundation that pioneers a new knowledge-based regional economy by cultivating and attracting life science enterprises and related technologies. Tenants of the building will be poised to collaborate with regional institutions to not only discover medical breakthroughs, but also move them from the laboratory bench to the bedside of patients, “bench to bedside.”

The Biomedical Research and Technology Building will include office suites, principal investigator offices, laboratories, core bench research facilities, prototyping laboratories and generic flex space that can be built out for specific tenants’ needs. The need for space to accommodate meetings, as well as larger planned group conferences, will be an important goal of the design. Tenants may include public, private, for-profit and nonprofit researchers.
