Conference on cancer prevention and care access

To heighten the El Paso community’s awareness on cancer prevention and access to care issues, a conference titled “Partners in Cancer Prevention” has been organized. The event targets health and social service professionals who work with at-risk populations. Experienced professionals will address a range of issues including successful cancer programs in the Americas, local demographics, health disparities, preventive measures, community and national resources. Special guest, Dr. Maria E. Fernandez, Associate Professor of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, Associate Director, Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research School of Public Health, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston will address disparities and impact on access to cancer prevention and control in the Latino population.
When: 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 5
Post event: Immediately after, a Spanish workshop for Community Health Workers – Cervical Cancer & the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) 101 will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.
