SAN JOSE - The new manager of the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center started work Monday (July 25). Irene Chavez, a 29-year industry veteran, replaces Terry Austen as Senior Vice President and Area Manager of the center. She was most recently the CEO of El Paso Specialty Hospital, an orthopedic specialty hospital in Texas. Previously, she was CEO at Providence Memorial Hospital, where she also held the roles of chief operating officer and chief development officer. Chavez has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She was officially hired in June.
